Visualize, Not Just for Athletes
// January 20th, 2009 // Personal Development, Success Tips
Today I am going to share a great technique to bring your goals towards you at a more rapid pace. This is something that should be practiced at least once a day and is simple and does not take much time.
The Power of Visualization has been know and used by professional athletes for years. Tiger Woods talks about visualizing the perfect shot each and every time he takes and shot and we all know how that is working for him. I learned the power of visualization when I was an athlete playing football. It propelled my game far further then just the training and practice would have done alone.
Visualization is way for you to begin to see and feel what it is you want to accomplish. Now that you have a A1 goal the power of visualization can bring that goal towards you at a much more rapid pace.
Just like anything we have excelled at, it takes practice. So begin today and practice it each and every day an you will get better at it and will begin to manifest things on demand. Think of it as way to consult your future self to ask what you need to do today to accomplish what you want tomorrow.
Steps to Visualization
- Make sure you are in a quiet place, and you won’t be disturbed for 12-15 mins.
- Find a comfortable chair and sit down and begin to relax. Read your A1 goal and begin to run the movie in your minds eye of what that goal looks like to you. Keep breathing deep and relaxed and play the movie in your mind and continue to add detail to it.
- Start to feel your body letting go of all the tension. Keep the movie playing in your minds eye. Continue to add details, where you are, what are you doing, if you are outside what is the weather like. What do you smell in the air? Engage all your senses and emotions bring as much detail as you can into that movie playing in your mind.
- Carry this image, keep breathing deeply and calmly. Enjoy being the person that is achieving the A1 goal. Feel yourself doing the actions required to achieve your goals. Be in complete gratitude for having what you set out to achieve.
- Slowly bring yourself back to the room, remembering the movie in your mind, breathing deeply, open your eyes you will feel energized and refreshed.
- Now carry this movie with you. When you think of your goal, like a snap the movie will flash in your minds eye.
- Each day repeat the process and build on the details of the movie, get clear on the vision!
If you practice visualization twice a day that would be great even if the second session is shorter just pack it with emotion.
Daily visualization practice will work for you and it is a great way to recharge and prepare you for the stress and pressures of the day. You can stay focused on what matters and clear on where you are going.
Enjoy every moment because goal achievement is not about getting there it is about the journey.
I have included some guided visualization audios for you to download. These are great when you are first starting out put them onĀ your ipod and plug the headphones and and go to work!
What do you think?
Do you practice visulization now? How has it worked for you? Is this your first time, if so let us know how it works for you!
